WEB COMIC REVIEW 23: STICK'EM UP COMICS

WEB COMIC REVIEWED: STICK'EM UP COMICS
CREATOR: ???
COMIC REVIEWER: ANTIONESTRIFE
UPDATES: SPORADIC BUT I THINK ONCE A WEEK

Hi there readers and welcome to another web comic review. Now this is comic I wasn't looking for. I see these all the times. I always try to look for something that stands out. Be it the story, the amount they update, the art work. Even if it's horrible. Something that makes me say wow let me review this. This comic didn't really make my head turn in a positve or negative way but it does show that anomaly of how three things could be similar and one will be great, one will be bad and one will fall right in the middle. Today's comic is called STICK'EM UP COMICS.

PROS: A colorful comic, a well put together site, a okay archive, amateur cartoons for your viewing pleasure, zany characters, twitter updates, and readers can comment.

CONS: A parental advisory warning is needed. It's not bad, but the come out when you least expect it. Knowing how parents are they will freak out if they read one those foul mouth updates, which is far in between but there. It wasn't really funny for me which may add to felling a little blah about this comic but it looks like the started this last year and may need some time to grow. I don't know who these characters are or who created this web comic. Which may not irk some people but I need to know what's the story about and who are the characters. The artist name is at the bottom of list but if you really like there work you want to know who they are.

LAST WORD: Not a bad comic but there seems like something is missing for me. It's probably the comedy or wit. When I read a comic strip I am looking for slap stick humor or something I get a chuckle out of. I will say that this, could be a very good web comic in the future if the artist or creators continue to improve. That's why I decide to do ratings in the first place to more accurately look at stuff. So even if I don't personally get a comic I have to give it props in what it does well. It also applies to if I like a comic also.

OVERALL SCORE: 7.5

CONCEPT: 7

I seen many comics that go the comic strip route but this one does it really well in using basic characters that tell a wacky tale each strip. Not original but well done. Since I don't know any of the characters names I can't really comment on any thing specific.

Art: 7.5

The art style is of a comedy comic strip theme. The thing I was impressed by-- is it's characters are drawn real basic and somewhat stick-box figure like. There are even backgrounds. This why I am so hard on stick figure comics drawn by adults, I figure you can at least draw on this level.

Color: 8.0

This proves even a simple drawn comic can be colorful, the artist did good job here.

READERSHIP: 7.5

The writing was okay. No misspells or bad grammar. The web site was easy on the eyes and I love the banner design. The is okay size archive, I guess about 40-50 ( they had no number system). There amateur cartoons, blogs, chat to explore. However... I don't know who the characters are despite the cool banner, who created this comic? Where is the parental warning is? Funny enough I can easily find how many readers there are for this comic (11) and that's not what most readers or myself would even care about.

ENTERTAINMENT: 7

This comic wasn't funny for me, but it might be for you. We each have our own funny bone. Mine just wasn't really touched at all here. Despite that-- the strips I read was entertaining enough that I read a few more just see if I was prejudging this comic to early.

CHANCES OF BECOMING A FAN: 6

Not a bad comic at all as the overall score reflects but there is something missing is this comic for For me. I think it's the comedy factor but it just could mean I've seen so many comics like one that I feel like blah. So this is one of those middle of road comics, cool to read some updates here and there but just not enough to make me want to come back for more. Believe me-- I know how hard that is. I recently hit a reader dry spell for my comic and I haven't felt inspired lately anyway. I guess especially when you do this for free. Simply put-- we all do what we love to do and hope other people will love it too. For me this is not one of those comics... right now.
