2013 WEB COMIC REVIEW 07: GIANT GIRL ADVENTURES

WEB COMIC: GIANT GIRL ADVENTURES
CREATORS: SABRINA PANDORA AND KOEN LUYTEN
UPDATES: ??? ISSUE 5 WITH A UNKNOWN NUMBER OF PAGES IN EACH ISSUE
GENRE: SUPER EX AGENT

Hey guys I've been busy of late and I ran into to snag of sorts. My blog recently got shut DOWN. It's long story I don't feel like going in to much here. Long story short I've been trying pay and renew my blog domain name and Google has made in far more harder then it should be. I'm giving you a heads up that that my blogs may go down soon for a extended time. I will try to keep it up but if they want me to pay more that I want to pay... I'm not doing that. So lets see how that goes. This also is why my updates slowed to crawl I was afraid any day my site would go down. So here is a long awaited web comic review, Giant Girl Adventures.

PROS: A whitty not hard on the eyes female lead character does work well. The story is interesting so you will want to keep reading. The cast of characters are funny yet familiar.

CONS: Is it me or does she look a lot like Carmen Santiago? Just saying. Sometimes the pages can be dialog heavy as in overpowering. Meaning sometime you see the speech balloons but not the characters. This webcomic is also ad heavy. The latest update has some of the smallest fonts I ever saw. I don't know how often that happens.

LAST WORD: I found this web comic to be not too bad. What do you think? The mix of color and black and white, was a nice touch at times. The fonts was too small in the last update. The creators do urge to click to enlarge at times but thats if you read the comments. With all updates I read this isn't a problem mostly, the art and font are easily readable except on certain occasions. This web comic looks like it should have scored higher but the lack of info when it updates, what the story is about as in a synopsis  and no PR whatsoever did not help much. That being said, this first year webcomic does get decent amount of comments. So I expect it to improve in these areas by next year.

OVERALL SCORE: 6.5

CONCEPT: 7.5
Ugh. There is no synopsis... From what I gather Veronica Kane is a ex super agent who can grow huge can spew some comedic remarks and kick bad guy butt in one swoop.  The story has some familiar undertones but still comes off rather fresh.

ART: 8.5
The art style fits perfect with  the humor and overall pacing of the web comic.

COLORING OR SHADING: 8.0
The shading isn't great but it works. The spots when they use color to showcase Giant Girl is clever.

WRITING AND SPELLING: 8.5
Grammar and spelling looks okay but the speech balloons can get wordy real quick.  Sometimes the font can be exceptionally small. Yes you can enlarge but  that can be a bit too much work.

WEB PAGE LAYOUT: 8.0
The web page looks good and bad at the same time. What I mean is at first glance it looks good but a closer look  it may overload your senses with ads and plenty of buttons near the page flip icons (First, Last, etc...)  On the plus side the pages load fast and there was no page load errors, hurrah!  There is plenty of links to see at this site and a forum to cruise thru if you so choose.

ENTERTAINMENT: 7.5
While it did have me reading  quite a few updates. I just wasn't mesmerized.  It was more trying to figure what this story and characters was really about.

POST FREQUENCY: 2.0
They don't say and I'm not guessing. They do tell you that they sometimes are having family problems. So you do get a point for that. The saving grace is that five issues  are ready for you to read from the year 2013 alone.

POPULARITY: 1.5
This web comics does get a modest amount of comments and has Page rank of zero, I rarely see that. Then again this webcomic is new so perhaps it is to be expected. It takes time and links before Google gives you a number.
